T.J. Hockenson is off to a slow start. Now the Lions need him more than ever.

D’Andre Swift probably won’t play on Sunday because of ankle and shoulder injuries. Amon-Ra St. Brown might not either because of an ankle injury.

In fact, every Detroit Lions receiver has missed time this week because of ankle injuries.

The tight end led all NFC tight ends during a breakout 2020 season and was named to the Pro Bowl, then was on pace for even better numbers last season until a finger injury ended his season in November.

But Hockenson has struggled to recapture that form through three games this season, catching 10 footballs for just 82 yards and one touchdown.

“I’m doing my best to do what I can,” Hoceksnon said at his locker after practice on Thursday.

“I’ve been getting other guys open, which has been good for us, you know? The second play of the game last week, DJ (Chark) had a dig right behind me.
