Hours before Wednesday night’s preseason opener — his first game in a different uniform after five seasons with the Utah Jazz
“One of those moments where you just look out and see everything and you’re just like, ‘Wow, this is really here,’” Mitchell explained following the 113-112 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers at Wells Fargo Center.
“Once you get out on the court, basketball is basketball. All the little things, it’s definitely weird, a little different, but everything’s going the way I thought it would in a good way.
I think when you have teammates and coaches and people that are helping you behind the scenes and continuously with the little things that don’t have to do with basketball, it makes the game a lot easier.”
His first basket was a right wing 3-pointer at the 8:56 mark of the first quarter — an assist from All-Star backcourt mate Darius Garland.
“I thought it was pretty seamless the way they played together, the way that the ball moved and everybody got involved,” Cavs coach J.B. Bickerstaff said.
